BAZAR Art Books Calendar 2026–27
Zamin o Zaman (Earth and Time)
The BAZAR Art Book 1405 Calendar, Zamin o Zaman, was published in Tehran in Dey 1404 (December 2025–January 2026) in an edition of 1,000 copies. This A5 booklet brings together fifty-three drawings by fifty-six artists, bound with a simple, fragile system. Two holes at the top allow the pages to be tied together with string if desired.
The publication was developed as one of BAZAR Art Books’ first initiatives to create a sustainable, independent source of income. The project was conceived to compensate volunteers who have long contributed their work without pay and to help cover the initial costs of organizing BAZAR’s annual event.
The idea was inspired by a 1984 coloring calendar published by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults. Its interactive format, affordability, and playful spirit resonated with BAZAR’s collaborative and diverse nature. Reimagined as a collective project, the calendar brings together emerging and established artists connected to BAZAR, with each artist contributing a work for one week of the year.
During the development of the project, the team reflected on calendars as both astronomical systems and political frameworks that shape our understanding of time and memory. The publication also draws inspiration from a range of self-published calendars that seek to reread and reinterpret the past in order to imagine different futures.
Published during a period of profound uncertainty and conflict in Iran, Zamin o Zaman is shaped around the idea of a collective “we” and a future capable of holding many voices while being colored by those who live within it.
