at Didar Art Gallery.
The fair will host 77 independent publishers and artists from 15 cities across Iran and abroad, presenting their works both individually and collectively.
Over the course of three days, visitors will be able to explore the tables of participating publishers and artists, engage in conversations with them, and purchase their works.
In addition to the presentations and book tables, the program also features workshops on art publishing, as well as talks and introductions by publishers throughout the fair.
Programs
Thursday, September 25
12:00 – 3:00 PM
Workshop: My Favorite Book
Facilitator: Ronak Moshtagh and Gelareh Moradi
In this three-hour workshop, we will chat and write about our favourite book, postcard, poster, or sticker from this year’s fair.
What words would we use to describe it, or what would we say to make people want to buy this publication?
When the workshop ends, we will print out our short text and publish a review about the fair.
4:00 – 5:00 PM
Presentation: Riso Printing, a Love Story in the Time of Isolation and Extinction
By: Golrokh Nafisi
In this session, we will discuss Riso printing and the story of the machine that was supposed to be retired, but which became popular among artists. We will also recount the story of publishing a book of the same name in three cities: Tehran, Amsterdam, and Sardinia. The publisher and others involved will be present. The publisher went to Riso Printing to republish marginalised ideas and thoughts from the island of their childhood. We will also recount the challenges of working with the monochrome printing machine and inks made from soy instead of lead that never dried. Finally, we will share the story of the extinct Riso printing machines in Tehran, which will soon be released from isolation to reach more artists.
5:00 – 6:00 PM
Book Presentation: A Language That Touches the Other
By: Bilge Emir
Bilge Emir (*Ankara, based in Berlin) works in illustration, design, and video. Her practice explores the intersections of power structures, visual representation, and the politics of imagery. Bilge will present her newly released book.
Tongue Touching the Other / Dil Ötekine Değince looks at what it’s like to move to a new country, or how similar dynamics can unfold without leaving home. It does this through four interrelated themes: becoming a foreigner, occupying the fragile position of a guest, assimilation through education, and representation. This path is examined through our relationship with language.
Friday, September 26

Presentation: 51 Personae
51 Personae is an independent art publishing project based in Shanghai, China. It views publishing not merely as a medium but as an urgent and valid artistic practice, with a focus on lived experiences in Asia and the Global South. Through collective and nomadic bookmaking and distribution, 51 Personae has participated in more than 100 independent book and art book fairs across Asia and worldwide.
5:00 – 6:00 PM
Presentation: Voices Undrowned
Voices Undrowned is a Berlin-based nonprofit project run by queer BIPOC refugees and immigrants. It is a community-rooted publication amplifying the voices of those too often unheard. Each month, the project publishes a new issue of its zine and hosts gatherings in Berlin, creating space to connect, read, and share. Voices Undrowned centers the work of marginalized creators — BIPOC, trans*, queer, disabled, refugees, immigrants, and the working class — who speak from the edges, the intersections, and the in-betweens.
